RCAP - ROCK CAPILLARITY
Who Should Attend
The course is tailored for those who are searching to understand the capillary force impact on their oil or gas asset. Perhaps you need to initialize a reservoir for reservoir modelling that was never properly initialized, taking this course will allow you to do so. Perhaps you cannot achieve the best for your reservoir due to capillary forces; understanding these forces can allow you to direct lab and field activities to explore the next course of action.
Why should you take this course?
To add value to your company and your own career by properly understanding capillary forces at work holding the oil and gas in the ground.
Course Methodology and Philosophy
The course philosophy and methodology is to present the basics of the complicated nature of capillary forces. Such understanding will allow you to direct Special Core Analysis Laboratory (SCAL) work activities, to the “end game” of improving oil and gas recovery for your oil and gas asset.
Reservoir Characterization and Rock Capillarity
We teach such that the individual is impacted by the course material, in a way that does not occur in other non-instructor interactive environments. Such an approach is especially critical in the area of the impact of rock Capillarity on Reservoir Characterization. Please come with your reservoir characterization problems, that may be impacted by rock capillarity. We enjoy guiding our work colleagues in the industry to solutions in understanding the rock capillarity impact on reservoir flow dynamics and rock fluid interactions in oil and gas reservoirs.
Here are the impactive issues of Rock Capillarity (RC) in real oil and gas reservoirs:
- RC impacts the amount of the oil in place, through the transition zone, and allows us to estimate saturations through the transition zone. Above the transition zone it guides us to the correct average saturation;
- RC helps us appreciate the impact of Rock Wettability and to Split Rock Types and Flow Units Properly;
- RC helps us see whether a zone is vertically equilibrium, and whether baffles are effective barriers during oil migration;
- In exploration RC Curves extrapolated without barriers, and with correct term definition, can guide us to the top of the transition zone, without disturbing the Oil Water Contact with a well penetration;
- RC Lab work in collaboration with other data to help us determine the presence of the Free Water Level and Vertical Equilibrium or No Cross flow information;
- RC Guides definition of Flow Units in No-Cross flow Reservoirs;
- RC defines a traps maximum sealing capacity.
